Time is Right for Reais, Says Cosan CEO

Conditions are ripe for Brazilian corporates to issue in reais, Cosan’s chief executive Marcos Lutz tells LatinFinance. Lutz says that with local interest rates on the rise and strong international demand for real-denominated bonds, Brazilian companies should take the opportunity to issue in local currency. He adds that the domestic energy company has no immediate plans to tap debt or equity markets, however. Yields on Cosan’s recently issued BRL-denominated debt have dropped to 8.8% from 9.5%,
