Brazil saw $4.4bn in private equity investment in 2012, a 78% rise from the year before, according to the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA). Brazil’s increase comes as investment dropped in other large EM markets, with China down 33% to $7.1bn and India down 57% to $2.7bn.
