Moody’s has shifted the outlook on Honduras’ B2 rating to negative from stable, it says, citing fiscal concerns and external finance issues. The agency estimates a 2012 budget deficit of about 6% of GDP, compared to 4.6% the year before and a 3.0% median deficit among B rated countries. “Temporary loss of access to multilateral budget support has led to increased government reliance upon the domestic market for funding, resulting in higher financing costs,” Moody’s says.
