Chile’s central bank has held the benchmark interest rate at 5.0%, in line with market expectations. Barclays, in a note, says it’s likely to stay there until 4Q, “when the likelihood of a hike begins to increase significantly.” Nomura also says a hike could be in order before the end of the year. “We have long forecasted robust growth in 2013 (5.5%) and a 25bp hike in 4Q, taking the [benchmark] to 5.25%,” the shop says.
