Chile’s central bank has decided to hold the interest rate at 5.0%. Expectations had been mixed, with the markets divided between a pause and a 25bp cut. In a statement, the bank notes a slow global economic environment with the US showing a bit more dynamism, It also notes that economic activity in Chile is growing slightly above expectations, but that inflation is within the target range.
