Ternium Eyes Stake In Brazil’s Usiminas

Ternium, the leading steel producer in LatAm, is in talks to purchase a minority stake in Brazilian steel producer Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (Usiminas) in a bid to enter the Brazilian market. Ternium confirmed the talks with the owners of Usiminas, but company officials could not comment further. Earlier this year, Usiminas sold off a 14.25% stake in Ternium, raising $1.03bn from the sale, a move many observers saw as logical given Ternium’s plans to become a competitor in the Brazilia
