For the first half of 2009 PE investments amounted to $1.3bn, down 24% from $1.7bn in the first half of 2008, according to Thomson Reuters’ Venture Equity LatAm mid-year report. But in terms of deal volume, activity is up 12%, with 29 transactions for the first half of 2009 and 26 transactions for the first half of the previous year. Financial services and alternative energy pulled the strongest draw of investors in the first half of 2009, the report says. Exits are up in the first half of 2009,
