Ecuador reversed the deflation seen in April, with consumer prices rising 0.03% in May, reported local statistics institute Inec. The figures compare with a drop of 0.14% for the same month a year ago. For the 12 months through May, the consumer price index (CPI) was up 1.56%, compared with an annual rise of 3.11% through May 2006. On a cumulative basis, inflation was 0.48% between January and May this year. The government has forecast inflation of between 2.6% and 3.5% in 2007.
