People: Natixis Hires Adam

Jean-Philippe Adam was hired to head Natixis’s LatAm platform, a new role at the French bank. Based in New York, he oversees the wholesale banking activities in the region, including a bank in Brazil and representative offices in Argentina, Mexico, and Peru. He joined from Crédit Agricole, where he was managing director and head of loan syndications for Latin America.

Carl Adams joined Sumitomo Mitsui (SMBC), to head its LatAm operation. He started in May, after leaving Espírito Santo, where he had been head of structured finance, project finance and origination for the Americas since 2008. Damian Polla filled Adams’ role at Espírito Santo.

Sylvia Coutinho was due to take over as CEO of UBS Group Brazil in late June. She replaced Lywal Salles, who retired. Coutinho joined from HSBC, where she was...
