People: Bancomer reshuffles

BBVA has promoted BBVA Bancomer chairman and chief executive Ignacio Deschamps to be head of a newly created division, Banca Retail, overseeing retail banking at a global level as well as the entirety of its LatAm businesses. Vicente Rodero, who previously oversaw BBVA’s South American operations, replaces Deschamps as chief of Bancomer. Luis Robles Miaja takes over as chairman of BBVA Bancomer. Responsibilities for retail banking at the parent were previously handled by José María García Meyer-Dohner, who has left the bank. Jaime Lomelín has retired as chief executive of Mexican miner Fresnillo, after 41 years with Peñoles and its subsidiary Fresnillo.
