People: Brazilian IB Moves

Eduardo Centola has joined UBS as CEO of the investment bank in Brazil, where the Swiss bank is focused on rebuilding its coverage.

He was previously head of corporate investment banking for the Americas at Standard Bank. Centola joined Standard from Goldman Sachs in 2009, one of several who left Goldman for Standard that year, particularly on the Brazil M&A side. He was co-head of LatAm investment banking at Goldman.

Meanwhile, Fabio Solferini has been hired to lead Brazil operations for International Assets Holding Corporation (INTL). He was previously head of Standard Bank’s investment bank in Brazil, which he set up in 1998.

 
Also in Brazil, Andre Kok has stepped down as head of investment banking at Itaú. ECM head Fernando Iunes has been named as the new IB chief, reporting to Jean-Marc Etlin. Kok had been with Itaú for more than five years.
