STRUCTURED FINANCE: Seeking a New Platform

A new and significant twist has developed in the Petrobras platform financing story.

Brazilian shipping operator Schahin hired Nomura’s Brazil-based LatAm structured finance team to assemble the company’s entrance into a new asset class – secured bonds.

"We want to diversify our sources of capital to sustain our growth," Fernando Schahin, CFO of Schahin Group, tells LatinFinance. "To do this we are putting our best asset to work," he adds. "We want to make a statement, here, and have a good deal out in the capital markets."
