Wortman Joins JP
In November,
JP Morgan appointed
Charles Wortman as the new head of its
Brazilian unit. Wortman replaces
Patrick Morin, who is leaving JP Morgan after a
31-year career. Morin was appointed country manager for Brazil in
2000 and will become consultant for the bank. Wortman currently
heads JP's Latin American power and energy group in New York and
will take up his new post in São Paulo where he will work with
Luiz Chrysostomo, JP's head of investment banking
in Brazil. Wortman has been with JP Morgan since 1984.
Vera to Head Merrill's Latin Research Group
Tulio Vera has been named the head of
Merrill Lynch's new Latin American macro
research group based in New York. Since 1999, Vera has been
Merrill's head of global emerging market debt strategy and will
retain that role. The new research group, announced in October,
