Schwartsman Moves to Central Bank
In September, the Brazilian Central Bank appointed
Alexandre Schwartsman, chief economist at
Unibanco, as director of international
affairs. Schwartsman, 40, replaces Beny
Parnes, who headed up Brazil's international bond
sales since January 2001. Schwartsman will work under Central
Bank President, Henrique Meirelles, who took control of the
central bank in January. Schwartsman, who has a doctorate in
economics from the University of California at
Berkeley, has worked for Banco BBA
Creditanstalt and Credit Agricole in
Brazil. Parnes left the bank for personal reasons.
Fraga and Malan Join Corporate Boards
Bunge Brasil, the Brazilian division of the world's biggest
